It fits in with the Irish philosophy of life: death is not the end but a new beginning. The Dublin Legends therefore had to continue on after the death of their companion Eamonn Campbell. In 2012, as an former member of the legendary Dubliners, he took the initiative to revive the musical legacy of the phenomenal Irish band with the remaining band members. A great idea, because five years later, The Dublin Legends across Europe are phenomenally popular, all over Europe. The band found a worthy successor to Campbell in singer guitarist Shay Kavanagh. In this line-up, the icons of the traditional Irish folk will spoil their fans for many years more with rousing concerts. Irish folk as Irish folk is meant to be. Pure and raw from the heart!
Within a few minutes The Dublin Legends know to transform the atmosphere of every concert hall in that of a huge Irish pub. The band members don't require flashing decors and special effects; their power stems from their voices and instrumental virtuosity. Séan Cannon (singing / guitar) has performed with almost every folk band in Britain and has been one of the regular band members of The Dubliners since 1982. The voice of Paul Watchorn (singing / guitar / banjo) is unmatched and just made for Irish folk. Gerry O'Connor (violin / banjo) starred with big names like Mary Black, Moya Brennan, The Waterboys and not long ago toured with the famous American blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Shay Kavanagh (singing / guitar), now performs as successor to Eamonn Campbell. In his youth Shay founded his own folk band with Mary Black as lead singer and then nestled into the folk world. In 2016 he was temporarily joining The Dublin Legends, replacing Eamonn. In this iron clad quartet The Dubliners' musical legacy is in good hands.
In an program that spans an evening, they bring a mix of old and new material to their audiences, such as 'The Wild Rover', 'Dirty Old Town', 'Whiskey in the Jar' and 'The Irish Rover'. Delightful folk classics, performed by delightful and true artists.
